Welcome Back

Dear Desert View Students and Families:
The 2010-11 school year has begun and we are all very excited.  The year brings new faces, new enthusiasm, and a renewed commitment to strengthening the traditions of a safe and positive learning environment for all students.  The staff and I have planned an exciting, eventful year, so join us as we are once again a "PERFOMING PLUS" school.

We have several new faces at Desert View this year. Please join me in welcoming the following new staff:

NCLB specialist: Ms. Sandigo
Interventionists: Ms. Fitz
Psychologist: Mr. Medina

2nd Grade: Ms. Tyus
2nd Grade: Ms. Barry
5th Grade: Ms. Hernandez

We are very excited to have them as part of the Desert View team!

If you would like to be a part of the wonderful Desert View Team, we are currently looking for parent volunteers. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please have him or her call at 928-722-7038 and speak with Anabel Garcia.

I hope you had the opportunity to visit the school at our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 5th. We had an incredible turnout with over 300 parents and family members!

I would also like to ask you to please help us by making sure your child is on campus by 7:30am. There is no excuse for consistent tardies.  Everyday Counts!!
If you have any questions please feel free to stop by or call at 928-722-7038.
Thank you and have a wonderful school year,
Lance Chebultz, Principal

NCLB

I am very proud to be part of this energizing and productive school year. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alma M. Sandigo. I have been in education for more than 13 years as a primary teacher and as an ELL Coordinator. This year nonetheless, I have been given the honor to join the team of Desert View as the NCLB Mentor. I have pledged to support teachers in their instruction and students in their academic well being; especially as we implement the new District Transformational Reading Program. In the short time I have been here, I have learned that the school counts with a strong leadership, effective and hardworking teachers, resourceful staff, willing to learn students and supportive parents. That is all we need to continue being successful. I am looking forward to sharing a very eventful year with you while we work alongside.

“Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success.” Henry Ford
